ERIC ADKINS • DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY

Eric Adkins is an accomplished cinematographer with a diverse filmography. His recent work as Director of Photography includes Marcel the Shell with Shoes On, which earned a 2023 Oscar nomination for Best Animated Film, and was awarded Best Indie Feature in the 2023 Annie Awards from ASIFA-Hollywood.

As Director of Photography, Eric Adkins is known for indie features such as Postcards from the Future, Inheritance, and The Truth…Is Always Complicated, as well as Paramount Pictures’ Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow — a groundbreaking film, lauded by Todd Gilchrist as “a technological marvel that ushered in the era of the ‘digital backlot’.”

Eric’s extensive work in stop-motion animation includes Tim Burton’s Mars Attacks! and Paramount’s The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge out of Water as Stop-motion Unit Director of Photography, and as Supervising Director of Photography on Shadow Machine’s Hell & Back. Additional feature work as Lighting Cameraman includes Netflix’s Wendell & Wild, and Laika’s The Boxtrolls.

Eric is also the Director of Photography on the stop-motion animated episodic series for Apple+, Shape Island, which won the First Jury Award for a TV Series at the 2023 Annecy Film Festival. The PJ’s, created by Eddie Murphy for FOX, and Nickelodeon's SpongeBob SquarePants: The Legend of Boo-Kini Bottom are also among Eric’s  animated series credits as Directory of Photography.

His VFX work includes Dreamworks’ Captain Underpants, We Own the Night, and five seasons of House M.D. as VFX Unit Director of Photography.

Eric boasts an impressive roster of commercial work including cinematography for brands such as Honda, Nissan, Ford, MINI Cooper, Coca-Cola, Bacardi, Miller/Coors, Planters, Kellogg, Nabisco, M·A·C, Exuviance, Converse, FILA, Reebok, Chase, Farmers, Nintendo, EPIC Games, Mattel, USPS, ESPN, NBC, NFL, and many others.
